Imagine a warm and sunny spring day, weaving with friends (old and new), in our cozy country setting. Anne is coming all the way from West Virginia to spend this special time with you. Let Anne help you create fabulous art and memories.
This two day class will allow students to learn the basics of constructing an egg basket, plus many other techniques with the use of color. Students will make a fancy cane braided handle, learn how to change colors on the handle and within the god’s eyes; sight, whittle and insert dyed primary and secondary ribs, weave so the basket ‘sets’ well and conclude with a neat decrease on sides of basket. At least 15 different colors used in basket.
Reed, oak hoops, dyed weavers and ribs, cane.
Size – 17” wide X 14” tall (approx.)
Advanced weaving level
Cost – $125
Tools – sharpened knife, awl, sidecutters, shears, bucket
This striking basket is double walled – it features many shades of space-dyed red (or green, depending on student choice) reed in various sizes on the inside. The exterior basket is woven in plain reed, with a zigzag pattern woven in it that picks up the color from the inside. Cats head base, dyed rim fillers and red (or green) leather handles. A very interesting rim lashing, this is a substantial basket, 7” X 15”, not including handles. One of the easiest double walls to make because of its construction! 8 hours $95 Intermediate or Advanced weaving level.
Brown bag lunches are recommended.
